From the Stanford Visualization Group, based on the New York Times article “Driving Shifts Into Reverse” ( May 2, 2010), data from Energy Information Administration, the Federal Highway Administration, and the Brookings Institution. Chart shows, for the United States, miles driven per capita each year versus gasoline prices (annual average for regular grade, adjusted for inflation).
