Drew Kodjak
Executive Director

Drew Kodjak is the co-founder and Executive Director of the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT), an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the environmental performance and energy efficiency of road, marine, and air transportation. Under his leadership, the ICCT has provided critical research and analysis that has informed the development of hundreds of ambitious and effective clean transportation policies and regulations around the world, including in major markets like Brazil, China, the European Union, India, and the United States.

In 2023–24, while on sabbatical from the ICCT, Kodjak served a yearlong appointment in the Biden-Harris Administration as the Senior Director of Transportation Emissions in the White House Climate Policy Office. During his White House tenure, Kodjak helped to finalize cutting-edge light and heavy-duty vehicle regulations which will significantly reduce U.S. greenhouse emissions and accelerate the transition to zero emission vehicles.

Before founding the ICCT, Kodjak worked at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), where he focused on air quality and transportation issues. His work at EPA laid the groundwork for many of the environmental policies that have since been successfully implemented across multiple modes of transportation. He is also a frequent traveler and has appeared and presented at hundreds of international forums and conferences around the world.

Kodjak is also known for his expertise in environmental law and policy; he graduated with honors from Boston University School of Law. He is the author of numerous reports, technical analyses, and articles on transportation policy, air quality, and other topics. Beyond his professional achievements, Kodjak is an avid cyclist and drives a Tesla Model 3.
