Electrifying global road transport with less mining: Policy insights for the EU and U.S.

About this event

The transition to electric vehicles (EVs) is driving a surge in demand for batteries and the raw materials needed to manufacture them. But can global mining and battery cell production capacities meet the rapidly growing demand? A new study from the International Council on Clean Transportation explores this question, analyzing the projected demand and supply capacities for batteries and key battery minerals. The study’s lead authors Eyal Li and Georg Bieker will share the main findings and discuss their policy implications for the European Union and the United States.
