The EV Transition check
Brussels
Is Europe on track to meet its car CO2 emission targets?
As electric cars gain momentum across Europe and worldwide, the coming decade will be crucial for completing the transition to an emission-free transport system. To track this transformation, the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) will release a new report assessing progress to date in Europe.
The EV Transition Check provides a comprehensive overview of the European automotive sector’s advancements toward zero-emission vehicles. Published ahead of the European Commission’s first Progress Report on CO₂ standards for cars and vans, this study delivers essential data, trends, and analysis to support the 2026 mid-term review.
The event will explore five core questions:
- Are car manufacturers on track to meet CO₂ reduction targets?
- How is the affordability of cleaner vehicle technologies developing?
- Which vehicle powertrains best support climate and public health goals?
- Is Europe’s charging infrastructure and power grid ready for the transition?
- Can electrification boost Europe’s industrial competitiveness?
The launch will bring together voices from EU institutions, industry, civil society, and research to explore the report’s findings and discuss implications for policy, investment, and innovation.
