Fuels for the climate: Is natural gas the solution to decarbonise shipping?
COP27 European Union side event
If shipping were a country, it would be the sixth largest emitter. To decrease the shipping industry’s reliance on heavily polluting fuels, some shipping companies have invested in liquified natural gas (LNG), a greenhouse gas that has questionable benefits for the climate. This online event will explore the impact that the increasing use of LNG for shipping can have on global communities and discuss alternative and more sustainable solutions to shipping’s decarbonisation.
