Juan J. Alonso
Advisor

Prof. Alonso is the Vance D. and Arlene C. Coffman Professor of Engineering in the Aeronautics & Astronautics department at Stanford University, and the founder and director of the Aerospace Design Laboratory, where he specializes in the development of high-fidelity computational design methodologies to enable the creation of realizable, efficient, and environmentally-sustainable aerospace systems. Alonso’s research involves a manned and unmanned applications including transonic, supersonic, and hypersonic vehicles, eVTOL, turbomachinery, and launch and re-entry vehicles. Prof. Alonso has been a member of the NASA Advisory Council, the FAA Management Advisory Council, the FAA REDAC for the Office of Environment & Energy, and the Secretary of Transportation’s Future of Aviation Advisory Council. He was a member of the team (1992) that currently holds the world speed record for human-powered vehicles over water.
