Comments, UK Department for Transport, Advanced Biofuel Call for Evidence

These comments are in response to the UK Department for Transport’s December 2013 call for evidence on advanced fuels. The background section provides high-level comments on the prospects for advanced biofuel for transport. These are followed by specific responses to questions in the call for evidence.

The purpose of this consultation is to assess the current status of advanced fuel technologies, availability of sustainable feedstocks, and expectations for advanced biofuels, and to determine if and what types of policy support are needed to accelerate the deployment of advanced fuel technologies. These comments reflect ICCT’s assessment of and positions on advanced biofuels potential, current technological status, technological and market barriers, and types of government support needed to accelerate the deployment of advanced biofuels, particularly from wastes and residues.
