Fuel consumption from light commercial vehicles in India in fiscal years 2021–22, 2022–23, and 2023–24

Light commercial vehicles (LCVs), which include mini trucks and pickup trucks, play a crucial role in logistics and the supply chain, allowing for easier navigation and delivery. Understanding the fuel efficiency of LCVs is important for the development of sustainable transport systems.

While India has implemented fuel efficiency regulations and incentive programs for electric vehicles to support the decarbonization of road transport, fuel economy regulations have not been established for LCVs. This paper examines the fleet average CO2 emissions of LCVs in India and analyzes characteristics of the Indian LCV fleet relative to the European Union.
