Cost analysis of fuel-efficient technologies for fuel consumption standards in India’s light commercial vehicle segment

In July 2025, India’s Bureau of Energy Efficiency released a draft proposal on future fuel economy standards for light commercial vehicles. These vehicles, primarily used for last-mile goods transportation, represent a substantial portion of India’s commercial goods vehicle market and play a crucial role in the country’s logistics and supply chain sectors. This study offers insights to support the finalization of fuel consumption standards and implementation strategies that account for the cost-sensitive nature of India’s light commercial vehicle market.
