Testing & compliance
With emission standards and mandates expected to drive decarbonization, testing and compliance with regulations will play a significant role. ICCT research and analysis has illuminated the scale and scope of disparities between efficiency and emission standards and real-world results. We estimate that better compliance with standards — implying better testing and enforcement— could magnify the annual emission reductions resulting from more stringent regulations by 12.5% to 25% in 2030–2050.
