Health impacts

Headquartered in São Paulo, Carmen Araujo is the Regional Lead of ICCT’s Brazil office. Carmen is an industrial engineer with over 20 years of experience in transportation and environmental policy. Previously a consultant, she has represented ICCT in Brazil since 2016, engaging with policymakers and partners, and advising ICCT research on clean vehicles and fuels in Brazil. She became Managing Director in early 2020, as the Brazil office was officially opened. Prior to working with ICCT, Carmen was Director of Operations at the Energy and Environment Institute (IEMA) for 10 years, and also worked for the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and the Fundação Instituto de Administração (FIA) in public sector projects. Carmen has additional experience in the private sector with a technology company, and academic experience as a professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of São Paulo (USP). Carmen graduated from USP with an MBA in Environmental Management from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) and an MBA in Information Technology Management from FIA.
